About Us

Art Conservation Framers started with a surprise.

Tony Rich, the founder of the business, decided to take apart an artwork of his wife’s – artist Ruth Hopkins – that they had paid to be framed archivally. Upon finding cardboard against the back of the artwork (very much not archival!), Tony set out talking to conservators and restorers and learnt how artworks should be framed.

Over 35 years later, the business remains committed to its philosophy of sourcing the highest quality materials and using reversible & non-damaging techniques to preserve your artworks.

We have put together a team of highly skilled and like-minded professionals who can confidently handle all aspects of art conservation, restoration and framing.

The Current ACF Team: Tony Rich, Ruth Hopkins, Alex Rich, Ben Pickard

Ruth and Tony are very proud that both their sons Alex and Reuben joined them in the business. Alex continues to work alongside them and runs his own business Art House Trading Co. offering picture hanging and other design services. Reuben has since left Art Conservation Framers and started Rich & Davis, a company specialising in the carving and gilding of antique style frames.
